I tell some friends about practice skins, 
about a friend that apprenticed for a while
 and showed her progress on Instagram.
Tattooing is a trade and an art like anything else, 
but you fail to see the work of practice.
You fail to understand that the medium 
demands a body for the experiment.
How to practice a permanent art? 
You need willing skin or a substitute.
Even reckless, rebellious teenagers try 
their stick-and-pokes on citrus peels. So, 
someone clever invented these skins,
which feel no pain as you drive the needles in,
marking them forever. You see where I’m going with this, right? 
The skin which has been practiced on,
and the skin which has not.
