Everything Cincinnati Review at AWP Baltimore

3 Minutes Read Time

A life-size cardboard cutout of Nick Lachey stands in front of the Cincinnati Review booth at AWP Los Angeles.
Nick Lachey is taking a much-needed vacation from our booth this year after wrapping production on “Love is Blind: Ohio.”

After the tremendous buzz caused by the presence of Nick Lachey at last year’s CR booth, the Imagineers at The Cincinnati Review have been busy thinking up new ways to surprise and delight you at AWP Baltimore. To that end, we have some exciting events, attractions, and new swag planned:

An Evening of Flash Lit: A Cincinnati Review miCRo Reading

Join us on Wednesday evening to kick off your AWP with a celebration of our beloved miCRo series. Hosted by editors Kate Jayroe and Andy Sia with special guests Prince Bush, Beth Ann Fennelly, Kat Lewis, David James Poissant, Edward Sambrano III, Jess Smith, Stella Wong, and Addison Zeller, this promises to be a fun night of mixed genres, beer on tap, good bites, and good friends. We may also attempt to livecast the event on Instagram for our friends at home.

Where: Max’s Taphouse, 737 S. Broadway, Baltimore MD 21231

When: Wednesday March 4, 7pm

Excitement in Booth 1065

We can confidently say that this year’s CR booth may have the best aura of any booth at the bookfair.

Introducing the AWP Manifestation Machine

A white hand with long black nails, wearing numerous rings, holds a lit match next to a tea light that reads, "Acceptance." It is placed on an altar of selenite, surrounded by crystals, in front of a woodgrain sign with the CR logo.

Four quarters unlock a pod crammed full of abundance in our new MANIFESTATION MACHINE. Inside each pod you’ll find a limited-edition CR sticker featuring our new mascot designed by Maggie Stockman, an intentional candle blessed with our editors’ best wishes for your continued writerly success, and a SECRET SUBMISSION KEY that opens a portal to a submission window for visitors to our AWP booth only. Yes, we can make change—even with a card.

Tattoos are Back

A woman with long nails wearing an ornate silver ring and Apple watch holds up the back of her hand to show where she's applied a temporary Cincinnati Review tattoo.

Our extremely popular temporary tattoo station makes another appearance this year, this time with a tattoo of our wonderful new lion mascots. Get one while they last!

New Tote Bags

A woman with long black nails wearing a black fairisle sweater, silver necklace, and jeans has her arm looped through the handles of the new CR tote: a boat tote-type bag made of canvas with black handles and bottom, and our lion mascots on the pocket along with "The Cincinnati Review."

We’ll be offering several types of swag from years past, including our Cincinnati chili tee, notebooks, and “In Progress” tee—and we’re also introducing a gorgeous new tote! Smaller and more rugged than your average tote bag, it’s still big enough to hold several books. And it’s emblazoned with Mick and Mack, our lion mascots.

Talk to a Genre Editor

Have questions about writing for, or submitting to, CR? Or perhaps you’re interested in the creative writing PhD at the University of Cincinnati? Stay tuned to our social media for announcements of drop-in periods where you can chat with a faculty member/genre editor.

Swing on by booth 1065 and take in all of our offerings, take blessings, take photos. And don’t forget to tag us on social media! We can’t wait to see you in Baltimore!
