the body can draw perfect circles
when it needs to say what a body wants to say
take care take care the body says when it circles
a body when it wants to stay
circles into suffering and clings there
a body fins water a body feigns buoyance
when it dives a body dives from a high board into water
when a body feels sadness a body feels release
which is a form of loss which is also a relief
a meteor’s a hurling body a meteor survives its passage
flashing falling flashing falling
a body does this flickering all bodies do
a body is a gray world when it snows
and snowflakes are exquisite bodies
finding rest on wires on currents and on conversations
a body circling an airfield is a rickety invention
a body crashes a body soars
rising far above the sea and sunward
then it melts and plummets and its weeping genius cries
I told you so I told you so I told you so
and grief is an allowance but is not the same as having
a falling body estimates the tyranny of gravity
leaves alone a quiet aftermath
without an aerial view a body cannot navigate its labyrinth
but an aerial view is a view of falling bodies
darkness falls you did go gently
falling ask the body what did it want to say
