Bess Winter Kosinec is a Canadian-American writer from Toronto. Her fiction appears in Kenyon Review, American Short Fiction, Gettysburg Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Ecotone, W.W. Norton’s Flash Fiction International, and elsewhere, and has been awarded a Pushcart Prize and the American Short[er] Fiction Prize. She’s received fellowships and scholarships from the Corporation of Yaddo, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Sandra Carpenter Memorial Fund, and the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. Her short fiction collection, Machines of Another Era, was released in 2021 and named a “Favorite Short Story Collection of 2021” by Largehearted Boy. Her debut novel, The Long Bright Thread, is forthcoming from Union Square/HarperCollins Canada/ Hutchinson Heinemann UK in 2027. She is also a UX/UI designer.
