We’re sad to learn that the Best American Fantasy series has been discontinued. The BAF editors curated three excellent, provocative anthologies that challenged genre boundaries and championed a wide array of weird, unsettling stories. We were looking forward to reading more—and we’re proud that four stories from our last two issues, not to mention a story by our own associate editor Christian Moody, made the long list for what would have been Best American Fantasy 4:

“Blood Work” by Adam Peterson (6.2)

“The Drowned Girl” by Micah Riecker (6.2)

“Something Ancient” by Brian Beglin (7.1)

“The Color Master” by Aimee Bender (7.1)

Congratulations to our writers for making the list! And farewell, for now, Best American Fantasy series: We hope to see you again.
