Accepting 2026 Summer Contest Submissions

We’re dicing watermelons, applying sunscreen, and enjoying the late sunsets of June in the Northern Hemisphere, which means it’s also time to accept submissions to the Robert and Adele Schiff Awards. We’ll be giving out three $1,000 prizes—one each for fiction, literary nonfiction, and poetry—and all entries will be considered for publication.

Between June 1 and July 15, submit your best

• story/novel excerpt (ten thousand words or less)
• essay (five thousand words or less)
• poems (up to five poems, with a max of eight pages)

Each entry costs $25 and includes a one-year subscription to the magazine. International addresses will receive a PDF/e-reader submission; if you’re at a US address and would like that option, please say so in your cover letter.
