In a Private Room

is the author of four poetry collections: Looking Both Ways (University of Missouri Press, 1985), which received the Devins Award for Poetry; A Strange Heart (Helicon Nine, 1996), which received the Marianne Moore Prize and the Society of Midland Authors Award; From the Night Album (Pecan Grove, 2007); and The Other Place You Live (Mayapple, 2011). Recent work has appeared in Sou’wester, JAMA, Boulevard, Baltimore Review, Bellingham Review, December, Southern Poetry Review, and others.
