Jess Jelsma Masterton is a PhD candidate in fiction at the University of Cincinnati. She holds an MFA from the University of Alabama, where she interned and served as a reader for Black Warrior Review. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Catapult, CRAFT, Flyway, The Normal School, Post Road, Printers Row, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. She has also been featured on The Heart Podcast’s episode “It’s Not Me, It’s You.” In the summer of 2018, she was selected as a Tennessee Williams Scholar in Fiction at the Sewanee Writers’ Conference.
