Nicola Mason worked for many years as an editor at the Southern Review and the Louisiana State University Press. She is a fiction writer whose work has appeared in such journals as Oxford American, Missouri Review, Epoch, New England Review, Shenandoah, and Blackbird, and has been reprinted in the Pushcart Prize and New Stories from the South anthologies. Her story “Cancer Party” was selected by storySouth as one of the ten best online stories of 2011 and appeared in the (print) anthology Million Writers Award: The Best New Online Voices (2012). A recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Louisiana Division of the Arts, she is also a visual artist.
